Muay Thai Magic’s Ellis Barboza returns to action later this month with a K1 clash on the UAM K1 Battle Royale promotion in Abu Dhabi.

Having competed less than a month ago on a separate UAM promotion alongside Nico Carillo and Josh Ridgwell, Ellis is keen to stay fresh and compete regularly as he looks to push forward in hope of fighting for a world title. This time however, instead of fighting full Muay Thai rules, he fights under K1 rules (a slightly different format, the differences between the two rulesets are broken down on a separate post here).

Ellis faces Akram Hamidi in a flyweight bout set at 54kg. Hamidi is the current  ISKA World Kickboxing Champion and WBC International Muay Thai Champion. With an impressive record of  21 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw, Hamidi is a tough opponent, and one that Ellis is not taking lightly. Speaking of his opponent, Ellis said: “He’s just another man in my way. He has a good record and beat some good names so I am excited to get in and show I am one of the best. I am looking forward to stepping into K1 rules and taking home the win”.

The show can be viewed live on March 26th via the UAM app or their Youtube channel. Stay tuned for more information regarding when Ellis will be making his walk to the ring.
